In a nation as vast and economically diverse as the United States, the role of general contractors is pivotal to the nation's growth and prosperity. From the skyscrapers of New York City to Silicon Valley's sprawling tech campuses, general contractors bring America's most ambitious projects to life. Their influence doesn't stop at the borders; American construction firms are often global leaders, setting industry standards and exporting expertise around the world. These companies are the backbone of infrastructural development, technological innovation, and community building. In this post, We map out the largest construction companies with the highest revenues in each of the 50 states, revealing not only their local impact but also their integral role in shaping the American dream and, by extension, the world at large.
Note that this list goes by state of incorporation, NOT by total construction volume in each state. For example, a contractor in California can be responsible for more construction volume in Nevada than the largest contractor incorporated in Nevada. We used publicly available information as well as ENR’s reports to put this list together to the best of our ability.
At ALICE, we are proud to have worked with a number of contractors on this list to optimize some of their most strategic and complex projects.
