New feature update | May 29, 2024

In line with our mission to advance generative scheduling technology and ensure it is accessible to key users in the construction industry, we are thrilled to announce a significant update to the ALICE platform.

Introducing Microsoft Project integration

As of today, users can directly import their Microsoft Project (.mpp) files into ALICE. This new feature enables users to fully leverage the schedule assessment, project recovery and optimization capabilities of ALICE. Building on our existing compatibility with Oracle Primavera P6 and Primavera Cloud files (.xer and .xml formats), this enhancement makes ALICE an even more versatile and powerful tool for project management.

Getting started in ALICE

Creating a project in ALICE is straightforward. Here’s how it works:

  1. Import: Begin by clicking "+ New Project" button and upload your Microsoft Project file (or a P6 file).

  2. Parameterize: ALICE will parametrize your schedule. This means you can set minimum and maximum values for various project variables, allowing you to define flexible ranges for your project parameters.

  3. Run what-ifs: Use ALICE's "what-ifs" to explore numerous scenarios. ALICE will simulate these scenarios to generate optimal solutions based on your goals, such as optimizing the construction sequence, identifying the ideal resource mix, finding the shortest project duration or providing project recovery options for delays, and more.

  4. Select the best solution: All of the solutions generated by ALICE are visually represented on a time vs. cost graph, allowing you to quickly compare the time and cost impact of different scenarios. You can then select and export the best path forward for your project – or ask ALICE to re-optioneer another set of solutions.

This update marks a significant step forward in making advanced project management tools more accessible and effective for the construction industry. By allowing users to import Microsoft Project schedules, we’re enabling a smoother transition and a more integrated approach to using ALICE’s AI-powered generative scheduling capabilities.
